Cartika launches new generation of VPS services with OnApp

Combines the benefits of Virtual Private Server hosting with OnApp cloud management capabilities across the U.S. and Canada; New VPS platform deployed in seven days, achieved ROI in three days.

OnApp has announced that Cartika, one of the largest hosting and managed services companies in Canada, has chosen the OnApp Cloud platform to power a new range of VPS services hosted at locations in the U.S. and Canada. Cartika chose OnApp Cloud for its very rapid time-to-market, rapid ROI, extensive automation and flexible storage capabilities. Its OnApp install was completed in seven days, and Cartika achieved return on investment from OnApp Cloud in just three days.

Cartika is particularly known for its expertise in server clusters and associated technologies. Its new VPS range includes self-managed and Cartika-managed VPS services, managed VPS clusters and complete VPS farms, and is available now for new customers from U.S. $30 per month. A migration plan for existing VPS customers will be launched in the very near future, along with packages designed for Cartika's thousands of shared hosting and VPS resellers.

"OnApp is designed for service providers. It's very easy to deploy, incredibly quick to set up and has a full range of features ready-to-run, out of the box," said Andrew Rouchotas, CEO of Cartika. "Working with the OnApp team we were live and accepting new business in seven days, and we reached a positive ROI in the first three days. This time-to-market is basically unbeatable.

"Our service portfolio is based on a number of different platforms and technologies, but OnApp gave us capabilities we just couldn't get from other providers, particularly in the way it handles VPS storage," Rouchotas continued. "We looked at customizing our existing platforms, but it made much more sense to upgrade our VPS service with OnApp and get the features our customers are demanding almost instantly. With OnApp we've automated our entire VPS service, including Managed VPS servers and clusters, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) for customers that need fast, reliable utility billing, and delivery of infrastructure and associated services in the U.S. or Canada.”

Kosten Metreweli, OnApp's Chief Commercial Officer, said, "Cartika has shown that time-to-market is still one of the most important considerations for any service provider launching cloud, VPS or other infrastructure hosting services. They've also proved that there is still plenty of room for innovation in established hosting technologies like VPS, by combining OnApp cloud management features with their own expertise in clustering and managed services, and focusing on what their customers really need."

Cartika's new VPS services are configurable with a range of CPU, RAM, bandwidth and disk options to suit different application requirements, together with multiple storage options (hardware RAID with SATA, SSD and SAS drives) and configurable backup. The OnApp Cloud platform offers a wide range of VPS management capabilities for Cartika and its customers, including autoscaling, utility and plan billing, virtual machine templates, snapshots and extensive automation of day-to-day admin tasks for servers and virtual machines. Cartika is also making full use of the extensive integration the OnApp platform has with HostBill, a leading customer portal and billing engine for cloud and other hosted services.
