LANDesk appoints Chief Marketing Officer

LANDesk Software says that Steve Morton has joined the company as chief marketing officer (CMO). He will guide the company’s strategic marketing and branding initiatives, including the continued integration of LANDesk business units Wavelink and Shavlik.

“Steve is an invaluable addition to LANDesk’s senior leadership team with deep industry experience,” said Steve Daly, CEO of LANDesk Software. “His experience in managing and growing rival product portfolios makes Steve an incredible asset to LANDesk. His experience with many of our key product areas will be instrumental in driving new growth for the company as LANDesk continues to transform the way IT services are delivered and consumed in the enterprise market. As we solidify our dominance in user-oriented IT, we are confident Steve is the person to successfully advance our product management, marketing, and strategy functions during this next phase of our growth.”

Morton brings more than 15 years of experience in IT software product strategy, joining LANDesk from RES Software, where he served as CMO. Prior to RES Software, Morton served as the vice president of product marketing for Symantec’s enterprise product portfolio. In this role, he was involved in global outbound marketing, including messaging, marketing campaigns and industry analyst relations. Prior to taking on the global product marketing role, Morton was vice president of product management for Symantec’s endpoint management business, which included the Altiris product portfolio. He also served in various product, marketing, and services roles at other IT companies, including Peregrine Systems and Folio Corporation. An experienced speaker, Morton has discussed service desk, asset management and self-help technology at industry events.

“For IT departments, success is defined by how well the IT department supports the multitude of ways its customers want to and need to work,” said Morton. “To do that, IT departments need a partner with the products, technology and services that maximize user productivity and efficiency, and that take full advantage of mobility and the cloud -- and LANDesk has exactly that. I see tremendous opportunity for our future growth and I am delighted to join LANDesk at such an opportune time.”
