ISS signs 9-year deal with Canopy for cloud backup

Canopy, an Atos company powered by EMC2 and VMware, has announced details of an expanded nine-year partnership with ISS, the global facility service provider. Atos already provides ISS with Data Centre services and user support, the new contract expands into cloud backup to run alongside the existing deal until 2022.

Through Canopy, Atos will be providing ISS with a cloud-based backup solution for data stored on users’ devices. Canopy Backup, part of the wider Canopy offering, uses Mozy by EMC2, which is relied on to back up more than 6 million endpoints and 100,000 business customers.

Canopy BaaS provides the ISS workstations with an enterprise grade backup and restore service for a distributed workforce. This means that the business critical data on users machines is safely and securely incrementally backed up on a schedule, with no user intervention, to the cloud service and is available for user self-service restore from anywhere with an internet connection.

Clive Grethe, who has responsibility for Digital at Atos in the UK said: “ISS and Atos have worked closely together for a number of years, each able to provide the other with specialist skills and expertise. The innovative support we are able to offer ISS through Canopy is a continuation of this close relationship and we could not be happier to have ISS as our first Canopy client in the UK. We are proud to be offering a service that goes beyond a ‘replace the tape’ strategy’ and helping ISS safeguard vital business intelligence.”

Peter Corning, IT Directorat ISS added: “Atos and Canopy were the logical choice for us and make perfect partners. We wanted backup support that protected all of our assets and Canopy is delivering on that need. We selected Atos because of the high quality of delivery we have received in other project work.”
