NTT Communications joins Interxion’s thriving Carrier Community

Fortune Global 500 company looks to Interxion’s London Campus for support with European expansion plans.

INTERXION HOLDING NV says that NTT Communications has opened a Point of Presence (PoP) at its London City data centre campus.

NTT Communications provides consultancy, architecture, and ICT solutions for business customers all over the world including Canon Europe, Yamaha Motors and Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The company operates a global tier-one IP backbone network spanning Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe. With six existing PoPs already open with Interxion across Europe, NTT Communications expanded its footprint into the City of London site in order to support the company’s network and European global services expansion plans.

“Interxion’s London facilities were a perfect fit to complement our network build and roll out our services to key European locations, bringing us closer to potential new customers. This has also enabled us to lower the cost of our infrastructure build, improving our competitiveness – all without compromising service quality,” commented Clive Hamilton, VP Network Services for NTT Europe.

Proximity to key markets was a driver in NTT Communications decision, as Interxion’s central London location enables it to be closer to a large number of financial services firms; supporting its strategy within the financial sector in London and Europe and reaffirming Interxion’s leading role in the financial services space. Interxion’s established communities of interest within the financial services and digital media industries will benefit directly from the new PoP opening by gaining access to NTT Communications suite of ICT services ranging from direct network connectivity through to application management.

“The economy is experiencing a rise in organisations bringing forward budgets for implementing infrastructure projects – whether as a result of achieving cost efficiencies or driving forward expansion plans into Asia. Headquartered in Japan and with extensive APAC presence, NTT Communications is ideally positioned as a primary choice, providing a gateway to Asia for European companies’ communication needs,” commented Clive Hamilton, VP Network Services for NTT Europe.

Existing financial services customers located within Interxion can now gain direct access to services such as NTT Communications Global Ethernet service, which provides fixed low latency capacity from Europe to Asia, with speeds from 50Mb to over 1Gbps. In addition, NTT Communications will offer existing Interxion customers onward connectivity to the Asia Submarine Express (ASE) network with the lowest latency Asian Triangle connection between Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.

Doug Loewe, UK Managing Director, Interxion added: “This announcement further demonstrates our London facility as one of the key connectivity hubs in Europe. This addition is even more relevant due to NTT Communications mirroring our strong heritage of providing services to the financial community. Our current communities of interest will benefit from the services that NTT Communications offers, particularly its connectivity to Asia.”
