Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, serves more than 24 million passengers per year, and these passengers want to be able to use their mobile devices anywhere in the facility. The airport’s 1,700 employees also rely on mobile devices to facilitate critical communications. Due to a continuous growth in passengers, Copenhagen Airport was in need of improved interior wireless coverage. TE Connectivity was chosen to remedy this situation based on its experience and credentials delivering high quality mobile coverage and capacity in large public venues, and long-term relationships with major mobile service providers in the region.
TE worked with Caverion A/S in Denmark on the deployment. Caverion A/S is part of Caverion Group – one of the leading building systems companies in Europe. “The airport was in need of better interior mobile coverage and capacity to meet the increasing demand, and the InterReach Fusion DAS from TE will give travellers and employees the world-class mobile services they desire,” said Klaus Kjeldsen, Caverion A/S. “We believe that this is the best system we could have installed among all the choices on the market.” To cover the airport concourses, 83 remote antennas, related hubs, and both fibre and CATV cabling were deployed.
“Reliable mobile communications is a critical service at airports, where schedules change quickly and passengers and employees need to maintain contact,” said Peter Wraight, vice president and general manager of the wireless business unit at TE Connectivity. “Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, is the latest in a long line of international airports that rely on TE’s DAS products to provide clear, consistent, high-capacity mobile services.”
