Still time to save on ISC’14 Registration – register online by May 15

The early bird registration period for the 29th annual International Supercomputing Conference will close Thursday, May 15, thus bringing the opportunity for attendees to save 25 percent off the on-site registration rates to an end. The organizers encourage participants not to wait until the last minute to register.

Once again to be held in historical Leipzig, Germany, the ISC’14 Conference and Exhibition anticipates an attendance of 2500 participants from around the world. So far close to 150 companies have signed up to exhibit, and the organizers continue to receive co-exhibitor registrations, pointing to a hopeful total of 170 exhibitors on the 2014 show floor.

Here is an overview of the different passes available:

Conference Pass: The conference pass gives access to all sessions from Monday, June 23, through Thursday, June 26, as well as the exhibition.

Exhibition Pass: Pass holders have access to all Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions, the Vendor Showdown and the Exhibition. The organizers are excited to host the HPC Start-up Session and the Exhibitors Innovation Forum in the exhibition hall.

Special Focus Pass: This passport allows attendees entry to all keynote talks, the Research Paper sessions, Poster session, the Industry Innovation through HPC sessions, as well as the exhibition.

Tutorial Pass: This pass provides access to all 10 full-day and half-day educational tutorials on Sunday, June 22. Programming is again a hot topic and will be addressed in a number of tutorial sessions.

While the ISC’14 conference program has sessions to tap a wide variety of interest areas, several are certain to grab everyone’s attention.

On Sunday, June 22, HPC leaders from many nations will come together for a full-day workshop on International Cooperation for Extreme-Scale Computing. This workshop requires a separate registration. Addressing this same topic in a session chaired by Thomas Sterling on Tuesday, June 24, the following speakers are featured: Satoshi Matsuoka, from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, will focus on power issues (Ecosystem of Extreme Computing Challenges); William Harrod, representing the US Department of Energy, will talk about advances in system software (Challenge-Driven Initiatives in Extreme-Scale Computing); and Thomas Schulthess, from CSCS in Switzerland, will describe the work being done to bring climate simulations to exascale levels (Challenges in Climate Simulations at Extreme Scale).

On Tuesday morning, June 24, Addison Snell of Intersect360 Research will moderate a 45-minute panel by IBM and Lenovo, as well as their partners and clients, about the transition of IBM’s x86 server business to Lenovo. This is your opportunity to ask IBM, Lenovo, and some key HPC visionaries about what they see next in the always-changing HPC space. By the way, the newly formed OpenPOWER Foundation, whose mission is rooted in IBM’s Power-based computation, will present their collaboration, plus outline how these efforts segue into another HPC trend: heterogeneous computing. The OpenPOWER Foundation session is on Tuesday afternoon.

About ISC’14

Now in its 29th year, ISC is the world’s oldest and Europe’s most important conference and networking event for the HPC community, offering a strong five-day technical program focusing on HPC technological development and its application in scientific fields, as well as its adoption in an industrial environment.

Over 300 hand-picked expert speakers and 170 exhibitors, consisting of leading research centers and vendors, will greet this year’s attendees to ISC. A number of events complement the technical program including Tutorials, the TOP500 Announcement, Research Paper Sessions, Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) Sessions, the Research Poster Session, Exhibitor Forums, and Workshops.

ISC’14 is open to engineers, IT specialists, systems developers, vendors, end users, scientists, researchers, students and other members of the HPC global community.

The ISC exhibition attracts decision-makers from automotive, defense, aeronautical, gas & oil, banking and other industries, as well as analysts, solution providers, data storage suppliers, distributors, hardware and software manufacturers, the media, scientists, and universities. By attending, they will to learn firsthand about new products, applications and the latest technological advances in the supercomputing industry.
