“Our business has grown rapidly through our hard work and innovation and to enable this period of rapid expansion we needed a managed hosting and data centre services provider who was prepared to go that bit extra,” says James Hall, Operations Director for Teneo.
The relationship started in 2012 when Teneo needed to expand its hosted server capacity to support managed services it offers to clients, “Our old supplier simply could not give us the space we wanted so we went to CentriLogic with a simple request for a rack of unmanaged Co-Location capacity as we had the technical expertise to do everything else we needed in-house.”
However, with growth accelerating, within a year Teneo had additional requirements as Hall explains, “our headquarters in Theale near Reading are in an area that now seems prone to flooding and it was felt that moving our IT systems off-site into a data centre would be a sensible business continuity step.” This datacentre migration project also provided an opportunity to increase capacity with a second rack.
Unfortunately, there were a number of issues regarding implementing the leased lines due to the constraints of the business park used by Teneo “…but the CentriLogic technical team came up with a clever alternative and they were instrumental in a successful system migration,” says Hall. A move that proved advantageous with the extensive flooding in 2013 which impacted the site but, “…with our systems in the CentriLogic Bracknell data centre it was simply business as normal,” he added.
With Teneo running its IT systems remotely and more international offices opening, it was felt that the storage architecture needed an upgrade to deliver the required performance. “CentriLogic worked out an innovative deal to allow us to offset the CAPEX portion of the 1gb to 10gb iSCSI storage upgrade which has helped us boost our application performance while still retaining the benefit of a hosted IT model. This was another example of where they found a solution instead of just treating us like a number – it is an approach that we adopt with our clients so we know it pays dividends.”
Along the course of the relationship, CentriLogic has also provided a VPS service to host the Teneo corporate web presence including the provision of Linux expertise to streamline the process. Teneo is now planning on taking a SIP trunking service from CentriLogic to ensure QoS for its business-critical voice applications.
Teneo customers include NHS Norfolk, Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, Schneider Electric and a growing number of private and public sector organisations with critical ICT systems. Teneo is also a Riverbed Elite partner and has won the EMEA Partner of the Year award 7 consecutive times in recognition of its investment in Riverbed globally.
“CentriLogic have consistently gone above and beyond and we appreciate their technical professionalism and flexibility,” says Piers Carey, CEO, “It is fair to say that they have helped to support the growth of our business and we envisage a long and successful relationship as we continue our journey.”
Robert Offley, President & CEO of CentriLogic adds, “Some people may tell you that the managed hosting and data centre services market is becoming a commodity, but we still believe that this is far from true. Working with customers like Teneo is for us a long term relationship and by delivering a bespoke service that offers flexibility we know that we can both grow in partnership and ultimately differentiate ourselves in a crowded market.”
