This new family of switches with its ultra-deep packet buffers and 100GbE uplinks enhance application performance, while providing resiliency, programmability and visibility into the network.
EOS Smart System Upgrade (SSU), now available for both Spine and Leaf switches, allows enterprises to perform hitless software upgrade across the entire network. Automation via EOS eliminates planned downtime and allows for 24x7x365, cloud-like uptime for in-house applications.
Optimal for Storage and Big Data
The 7280E Series extends the Arista leaf switch portfolio with a 1000x increase in packet memory, compared to typical switches in top-of-rack applications . This ability to handle network congestion results in a low loss network for critical workloads such as IP Storage, Big Data and streaming video. The same EOS binary image runs across all Arista products and includes support for VXLAN, LANZ, DANZ and Arista Tracers on these new platforms, lowering the certification and overall Opex for enterprises.

TAP Aggregation and Visibility
Arista Data Analyzer (DANZ) feature set that provides real-time monitoring capabilities, is now available on the 7500E modular spine switches, providing visibility at 10/40/100GbE speeds at terabit capacity. New features in EOS include a Tap Aggregation Manager, Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and advanced traffic steering that allows network operators to precisely select the flows that need monitoring.
Additionally, the addition of OpenFlow 1.3 support for the 7500E enables research centers and universities to deploy 100GbE networks interconnecting to Internet2 for bulk data transfers.
Universal Optics reduce fiber need by 75%
Other announcements include a standards compliant universal optic that enables 40GbE over a single pair of either multi-mode or single-mode fiber, enabling seamless and cost-effective migration from 10 to 40GbE. The Universal QSFP optics have a reach of 150m over multi-mode fiber and 500m over single mode fiber, and can also interoperate with IEEE LR4 based devices.
