Data residency is an important consideration for many organisations when selecting a security solution provider for their cloud, on-premises and hybrid IT environments. Now with its UK data centre, organisations working with Alert Logic can know that their data is not only secure, but also supports their local data privacy requirements.
"International expansion is a strategic priority for our business, and we are excited at this latest milestone," said Marty McGuffin, Senior Vice President of Security at Alert Logic. "Hosting our service and customer data within the European Union clearly demonstrates our commitment to providing the same world-class service our customers in the United States receive to customers worldwide.
For this European deployment, Alert Logic chose the Next Generation Data Centre in Newport, Wales, one of the world’s largest data centres, located on a 50-acre site with 750,000 square feet of space, and designed as a Tier 3+ data centre. This major investment, supported by the Welsh Government, enables Alert Logic to collect, analyse and store data within the European Union, ensuring adherence to the EU Data Protection Policy around data privacy, protection and residency.
The Next Generation Data Centre building is an energy efficient or “green” data centre as it runs on 100% renewable energy and uses less than 1% of the water volume used by standard data centres; one data hall uses approximately 1.5 megawatts, which is enough to power a small village of 750 houses. There will be continual expansion of the building for the next five to ten years.
David Howorth, VP EMEA continued: "Our annual Cloud Security Report, which collects and analyses security threats to and from cloud environments, noted Europe as having the highest volume of attacks in hosting and public cloud infrastructures. As such, it puts us in a unique position to help European customers who are looking for high-quality, cloud-based security and compliance solution
