Control Risks and MWR InfoSecurity form cyber security partnership

Leading industry players join forces to tackle cyber threats to organisations.

Control Risks, the global business risk consultancy, and MWR InfoSecurity, the research-led information security consultancy, have announced a new cyber security partnership. This brings together the two companies' extensive collective experience and knowledge to help organisations better manage their information security and exposure to cyber attacks.

The distinct, all-encompassing service includes strategic intelligence, analysis of specific threats, risk and technical consulting through to implementation of appropriate defences, as well as detection and remediation. Critically, it brings unrivalled experience to mitigate the significant negative impact of a cyber breach.
The cost to organisations of a cyber-breach is not only financial, frequently running into millions, but also significant operational and reputational damage and loss of customer loyalty. For boards, managing information security risk is therefore imperative, but the perceived complexity of cyber security makes gaining a full understanding of their security posture a challenge.

Control Risks and MWR InfoSecurity have joined forces to aid the process and provide a risk-based, technically expert approach to protecting companies’ most important information, in addition to helping them manage a breach when it occurs. This combination of expertise means that clients will gain a complete cyber security picture that will enable them to be proactive, rather than simply reactive to security threats.

“Organisations spend millions every year on information security – hoping that this will protect against the even larger potential losses from a cyber-attack,” said Richard Fenning, CEO Control Risks. “Our approach ensures that this investment is appropriate and that it really protects an organisation’s key data and information assets.

“Cyber represents a strategic business risk and not purely a technical consideration. Organisations need to adopt an approach to information security that encompasses its entire operation, not just the IT department.”

The partnership brings together market leaders in both technical cyber security and risk management - Control Risks has over 40 years’ experience in risk management and has its roots in crisis management and response, advising organisations on how to mitigate and manage acute crises and threats to their operations and reputation. MWR InfoSecurity is currently one of only five companies accredited by the UK government to respond to cyber attacks. Its consultants know that understanding how attackers work is the best defence against them.

“Through our partnership, a fusion of technical and risk consulting expertise, we are uniquely placed to help clients gain a clearer understanding of where their organisation stands and ensuring they are investing in the right defence for the specific cyber threats they face,” said Ian Shaw, CEO of MWR InfoSecurity
