John Matthews joins ExtraHop as CIO

ExtraHop, the global leader in real-time wire data analytics for IT intelligence and business operations, has announced the further strengthening of its executive team with the addition of John Matthews as CIO. With more than 20 years of experience developing creative and robust IT operations architectures at companies including F5 Networks, Microsoft, and Adobe, Matthews will spearhead a rapid scale-up of the ExtraHop environment to meet growing demand for wire data analytics as well as counsel the company’s enterprise customers as they evolve their IT operations.

Matthews’ appointment reflects the growing importance of IT Operations Analytics (ITOA) in the enterprise and the rapid adoption of the ExtraHop wire data analytics platform as a foundational component of these architectures. Global enterprises including Morgan Stanley, Lockheed Martin, Concur, Purdue Pharma, and McKesson already use ExtraHop to provide deep, rich visibility into their IT environments.

Prior to joining ExtraHop, Matthews served for nearly a decade as the CIO at F5 Networks where he led IT strategy, aligned IT and business goals, and guided F5 to the early adoption of new technologies including public cloud computing. Previously, Matthews served as an IT leader for MSN Operations at Microsoft, as CIO at Towne Exploration Company, and as Director of IT Operations at Adobe.

“John’s experience in running global IT organisations makes him an ideal choice to ramp up ExtraHop’s IT operations and keep pace with the growing demand for our IT operations analytics offering,” said Jesse Rothstein, CEO, ExtraHop. “Additionally, John will be an important asset to our customers. He has experienced the challenges that they face on a daily basis and can provide valuable counsel as they look to streamline operations and align IT and business priorities.”

“As a CIO, I really believe that IT can be an incredibly strategic advantage for a company. The ExtraHop technology can help organisations to more rapidly realise those advantages,” said Matthews. “The ExtraHop platform is a powerful source of insight for both IT operations and business stakeholders, and the company’s commitment to an open data architecture represents a paradigm shift in how enterprises and vendors alike approach IT operations. I look forward to being a part of this transformation.”
