Etihad Airways and Okta have formed a strategic technology partnership to integrate Okta’s identity and access management platform into the airline’s existing security infrastructure. This partnership will enable the airline to oversee its global data network of customers, employees and partners in the cloud.
The multi-million dollar deal comes as an integral part of Etihad Airways’ technology and innovation strategy to further strengthen its architecture and security through strategic partners. It will enable the airline to easily authenticate, federate, manage and secure user access to its growing list of cloud and mobile services.
Etihad Airways’ Chief Information and Technology Officer, Robert Webb, said: “Selecting Okta’s next-generation technology demonstrates our commitment to secure our business and guest information. It also underlines our strategy of being cloud-first, enhances our guests’ experience, and allows our employees to work smarter.”
“Okta's innovative cloud-based solutions meet our requirements to extend our identity and access management strategy to the cloud. Integrating these solutions to our central system will give us the flexibility to accommodate our expanding global customer base, while accelerating our business by fostering collaboration, saving costs and further securing our IT environment.”
Tailored to Etihad Airways’ needs, Okta’s solutions will securely and simply connect users to their applications anywhere, anytime and from any device. Guests and employees will experience a seamless signing-in process with user logins managed centrally in the cloud.
Etihad Airways’ employees will also benefit from Okta’s leading Single Sign On (SSO) technology, enabling them to securely log in once and easily access their internal business applications without needing to login to each new application within the platform.
Using Okta’s advanced enterprise-grade identity management solution, 3.2 million members of the airline’s award-winning loyalty program – Etihad Guest, will be able to login once into a single platform and navigate through a variety of features to enable flight bookings, miles redemption, and the viewing of statements and exclusive offers.
Todd McKinnon, Chief Executive Officer, Okta, said: “We’re seeing an increasing number of organisations like Etihad Airways turn to cloud applications to drive productivity internally, as well as to enhance externally facing experiences like B2C websites, partner portals, or even entirely new cloud applications. Okta uniquely offers a single platform for customers to manage and control identity across any number of these scenarios. We’re delighted that Etihad Airways has chosen Okta to help its business grow by delivering a top quality experience to its employees and customers.”
