Veeam, a provider of backup and disaster recovery solutions, advocates a 3-2-1 rule for its backup products: three copies of your data, on two types of storage, with one copy held offsite. However, getting backups offsite can be challenging due to limited bandwidth, large data volumes and a lack of resources to build or maintain a true offsite repository. Veeam Cloud Connect has been specifically designed to overcome these issues, allowing users of Veeam Backup and Replication (v8 onwards) to add an offsite cloud backup repository hosted by brightsolid.
Hosted in brightsolid’s wholly owned, Tier III+ UK data centres, Cloud Connect provides effortless, affordable backup and business continuity that scales. Users have complete control of their on-demand restores through Veeam’s customer portal, and are assured that data is secure with brightsolid’s ISO27001:2013 security accreditation. Due for release in the second half of 2015, Cloud Connect v9 will include advanced image-based VM replication, providing customers with a cloud-based disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS). Users will be able to replicate their IT estate from within the Veeam console and the solution will further improve recovery times.
“We are delighted to announce that Veeam Cloud Connect is now part of our applications product portfolio,” said Lisa Clark, head of product, brightsolid. “At brightsolid we are dedicated to providing our customers with the right solutions for their immediate needs and future digital roadmap ambitions. I’m proud to say that our internal research and development team have successfully acquired another product to add to our growing portfolio. Veeam customers can take advantage of our new addition that takes the headache out of backing up, allowing IT departments to concentrate on innovation rather than ‘keeping the lights on’.”
