Kirkham based Smart IT has recruited Cisco systems expert and IT business analyst Paul Davidson as its new network security specialist advisor.

Mr Davidson, 46, from Blackpool, is a seasoned business analyst and network infrastructure engineer with over 20 years’ experience of designing, implementing, operating and optimising corporate ICT systems.

A former army officer who has trained troops on telecommunications and IT technologies in the field, Mr Davidson has a series of advanced qualifications in computer network engineering under his belt. This includes extensive certified Cisco Network Associate and US security credentials which are highly valued by organisations such as the NSA.

“Modern businesses are now looking for high end, complex IT network capability to ensure that their systems support and sustain their growth, as well as protecting their data and equipment,” explains Paul.

“Successful cyber-attacks on businesses are increasing, whether it’s harvesting confidential data or immobilising operations and taking remote control of systems.

“I am very much looking forward to helping Smart IT’s new and existing clients benefit from the highest levels of network performance and IT security.”

Mr Davidson’s previous roles include IT systems engineering and installation work for Kelway Technologies in the Middle East, as well as several roles closer to home, including for the Lancashire Constabulary, Cumbria County Council and the Local Education Authority.

“Paul’s arrival certainly bolsters our team’s capabilities and his experience will be invaluable,” says Smart IT director Pauline Bullen. “He knows exactly what is required in the installation of complex, high end business IT networks and in the upgrading of legacy systems, both overseas and in the UK.

“Threats to IT infrastructure from cyber criminals are becoming increasingly ingenious and advanced. The protection of IT systems against computer fraud, hacking and viruses means that businesses need to be ever more vigilant in ensuring that their own systems are fully protected. We can help predict and disrupt threats, manage risk and compliance, and extend security for our clients.”

Smart IT supports a range of clients in North Lancashire and beyond, from small businesses to large, across many different sectors including energy, food production, financial and professional services.
