ITWORX secures North Star Shipping Contract  

Aberdeen’s ITWORX, a specialist IT & Communications Managed Services Provider, has scooped the “EMEA Unique Solution of the Year” award at leading global provider of data backup, recovery and business continuity solutions Datto’s annual EMEA conference.

The award recognised ITWORX innovative implementation of Datto’s Total Data Protection Platform at North Star Shipping, a division of Global shipping and energy firm Craig Group Ltd.
Founded in 2007, Datto provides business continuity solutions to more than five million customers and thousands of partners worldwide.

Aberdeen’s ITWORX, a specialist IT & Communications Managed Services Provider, implemented a Datto solution that provides: a single cloud portal to manage all devices, for all vessels and worldwide locations, instant remote server recovery, with continuous backups; remote administration for the IT Department, with no local on-board user involvement and faster hardware recovery, to differential hardware, when ships may be docked for only four hours.

Leslie Wilson, Sales & Marketing Manager at ITWORX, Aberdeen, explains: “Much of North Star Shipping’s fleet is at sea for a full 28 days, working in extreme weather conditions in the North Sea. In spite of the conditions, we have to ensure that IT infrastructure is available 100% of the time. The installation of Datto devices upgrades existing IT continuity and enriches reliability, simplicity, ease of access and management across the entire fleet”

This contract comes in addition to ITWORX supplying another Craig Group division, Craig International Supplies with a business continuity solution, for three geographically distinct locations.
