“Huawei is pleased to continue our relationship and collaboration with SUSE,” said Qiu Long, general manager of server domain, Huawei IT product line. “The two companies will provide competitive hyper-converged solutions to help customers continuously improve business agility and make computing simpler, by consolidating resource advantages and deepening technical cooperation.”
The new solution is Huawei’s new-generation mission-critical server designed for essential workloads such as business databases, decision support and business processing. The solution is based on RAS 2.0 high-reliability hardware with software technologies including kPar hard partition, CPU and memory module hot plug, and fault early warning. To ensure high reliability and minimise downtime, SUSE worked with Huawei to develop cost-based SAP HANA multi-layer high availability scenarios and provide solutions like system security reinforcement for SAP HANA applications, in addition to original support for performance-based high availability solutions. SUSE Linux Enterprise kernel page cache module and related kernel parameters have also been optimised to substantially improve the performance of SAP HANA running on the Huawei appliance.
Nils Brauckmann, president and general manager of SUSE, said, “SUSE is committed to the success of enterprise customers, and we partner with market leaders to provide the best solutions to meet customers’ specific needs. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is the leading platform for SAP solutions on Linux, and our cooperation with Huawei to provide the operating system for their new SAP HANA Appliance Solution demonstrates both companies’ commitment to offering proven, reliable solutions that put customer requirements first. We are pleased with SUSE’s ongoing development in China and believe that through cooperation with Huawei we are laying a solid foundation for expansion in areas like all-in-one machines as well as industry and cloud computing solutions.”
