Managing clustered infrastructure

Bright Computing will release Version 7.2 of its industry-leading Bright Cluster Manager software solutions, including Bright Cluster Manager for HPC, Bright Cluster Manager for Big Data, and Bright OpenStack in January 2016.

“At Bright Computing, we are dedicated to continuously enhancing our product offerings based upon feedback from our users and the newest trends in the industry,” said Dr. Matthijs van Leeuwen, founder and CEO of Bright Computing. “The enhancements made in Version 7.2 respond to the growing trends we have observed, in which users want to run HPC workloads as well as big data analytics in the same clustered or cloud infrastructure.”

The updates will include more than a dozen features that simplify OpenStack deployment, add built-in integration functionality, and greatly improve Big Data integration, including support for the latest releases from Apache, Cloudera, and Hortonworks. Among other enhancements, the updates to Version 7.2 include improved integration with Puppet to simplify fine-grained control over individual nodes, ZFS support to provide a robust alternative to BtrFS for software image revision control, support for Intel Omni-Path, and integration with Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenStack Liberty.

As users demand flexibility to run workloads on either bare metal, virtualized machines, or in containerized environments, Bright has focused on developing a complete infrastructure with this critical flexibility. “Our management solutions offer a single pane of glass management for hardware, operating system, software, and users. Administrators can offload the workload to a public cloud or to a mixed environment, with some servers run on-premises and some in the cloud,” van Leeuwen added.
