The project is supported by the Dept of Jobs through IDA Ireland.
The new office will expand and enhance research into business innovation, network services, cloud and customer experience, as well as ICT transformation dedicated to service provider operations. It will be the lead R&D office in Ireland, working in conjunction with Huawei’s other R&D locations in Dublin, Cork and Athlone.The company will have invested ˆ35m in R&D in the Irish economy in 2015, supporting the growing technology ecosystem in Ireland.
Huawei Ireland will expand its STEM and education initiatives through its flagship CSR programme, ‘Seeds for the future’, to further support the Dublin facility’s core focus of cloud innovation.
Richard Bruton, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation said: “Creating a world-class ecosystem for scientific research is a key part of our Action Plan for Jobs, and over recent years we have put in place a range of measures to improve the environment in this area. Today’s announcement that Huawei, a truly global leader in this sector, is locating a major R&D office in Dublin and creating 50 high-end jobs is a great boost. We will continue to implement measures to improve our output of skilled workers in this area, and I look forward to working with all the team at Huawei as they roll out this major investment”.
