Advanced 365 (Advanced) has launched Application Portfolio Analysis (APA), an application portfolio analysis solution with integrated services.
APA enables organisations to reduce the complexity, cost and risk associated with application improvement initiatives and maximise the value of their existing legacy systems. The solution provides enhanced technical and contextual analysis to accurately determine how applications are being used to improve strategic decision making and investment prioritisation.
Many organisations including banks and financial services firms, retailers and government are grappling with outdated legacy systems which have been developed over several years by different programmers. The acceleration of disruptive technologies (cloud, mobile etc) have further added to the difficulty of maintaining an optimised portfolio.
Neil Cross, Managing Director of Advanced 365, comments, “The enterprise application portfolio is evolving faster than ever before and some organisations are in danger of being left behind. Without a clear understanding of the costs, risk and IT strategies available, it is impossible for them to plan with any confidence and determine where they are today and where they need to be in the future.”
As part of the APA solution offering, Advanced’s comprehensive PathFinder services provide customised modernisation, rationalisation and decommissioning strategies. This assists organisations to determine the current cost of ownership and operation of existing applications, their value to the business and whether they need to invest in new application portfolio analysis initiatives.
In addition, the solution is underpinned by a unique Application Understanding software tool that allows any developer to understand, maintain and enhance applications. Inherent relationships can be mapped, roadblocks can be identified, and suitable changes can be made. It provides a searchable database of information built from the language code and data structures of an organisation’s application portfolio.
Cross adds, “With over 30 years’ experience, Advanced 365 has a proven track record of assisting organisations to increase IT agility and achieve a tangible return on investment. APA builds on this foundation by giving organisations even greater clarity to better manage their existing portfolio, confidently plan for the future and execute that plan as efficiently as possible.”
Advanced 365 is a HP Gold Preferred Partner and specialises in helping organisations to better understand, maintain and enhance existing applications, such as those on OpenVMS and ICL/Fujitsu VME platforms, to maximise business value.
