The Korte Company streamlines construction project efficiency

The Korte Company, a leading U.S.-based construction and design firm, has selected CTERA’s Enterprise File Services Platform to improve IT efficiencies and increase organizational productivity for its distributed network of offices and users across the country.

The Korte Company is unifying its file servers, collaboration and security management by deploying a combination of CTERA cloud storage gateways and CTERA’s enterprise file sync and share (EFSS) solution. Korte has deployed CTERA’s gateway appliances at regional offices as all-in-one file servers and backup appliances to store construction project documents and design files. CTERA EFSS provides Korte’s users with real-time file access and collaboration tools for the files they need wherever they are.
The CTERA solution provides The Korte Company a single platform to store, share and protect files. By replacing Microsoft SharePoint and Dropbox for Business, Korte has reduced the complexity and cost of file storage and file management. In addition, Korte users are more productive and happier – after previously being frustrated by the complexity of SharePoint’s document management and metadata definition requirements.
With CTERA, all Korte users can securely access and collaborate with both internal and external users according to predefined security policies, and Korte IT can efficiently manage office and roaming user file access and sharing.
“CTERA’s platform weaves simple file access and collaboration into every aspect of our business, from pre-construction to design to project management,” said Barry Kauhl, Director of IT, The Korte Company. “Everyone in the organization can easily and securely manage, share, and recover files by themselves, which enables our IT organization to focus on other issues.”
Additional CTERA solution benefits include:
  • All Korte files are backed up and stored in Korte’s virtual private cloud (VPC) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to ensure data protection and enable significant cost savings compared to traditional storage technology or SaaS services that charge a premium for storage capacity.
  • Improved IT administration efficiencies are driven by several attributes of the CTERA platform, including central management of user agents and gateways and Active Directory integration.
  • Built-in disaster recovery and file versioning capabilities enable Korte IT and users to easily and quickly recover data from any point in time.
  • Complete data privacy and security with a data management model that stores and protects all data, metadata and encryption keys within Korte’s AWS VPC.

“IT organizations managing both remote offices and roaming users require a unified solution for secure and consistent file access and collaboration across the enterprise,” said Jeff Denworth, SVP Marketing, CTERA. “We have been pleased to partner with Korte as they accelerate their business through the power of unified and secure cloud storage.”
