Prior to Rackspace, he served as senior vice president of engineering at Puppet Labs, where he helped drive Puppet’s offerings into an enterprise-class platform. At Puppet Labs, Stein led the movement towards configuration-as-code, which has helped form the foundation of the modern DevOps movement.
Prior to Puppet Labs, Stein was vice president of engineering at Red Hat. His responsibilities included engineering leadership for the company’s virtualisation, management and security offerings, including OpenStack, kvm and Xen. He was a key leader in the company’s transformation to cloud infrastructure, and created and led one of the largest OpenStack engineering teams in the industry.

Stein holds a master’s degree in computer science from The State University of New York Binghamton in Vestal, NY.
