Cherwell Software and FireScope deliver discovery and dependency mapping solution

Cherwell Software has given details of a product offering with FireScope, developer of a leading cloud-based enterprise monitoring solution, called Discovery and Dependency Mapping. Discovery and Dependency Mapping quickly discovers critical services, their dependencies and then accurately maintains these relationships in constantly changing IT environments.

With native integration with the Cherwell Service Management™ platform, Discovery and Dependency Mapping will automatically populate and update the Cherwell Service Management configuration management database (CMDB) as services are deployed, modified, or retired -- providing a consistent and always up to date model of critical IT services. FireScope recently introduced IT service dependency discovery and mapping functionality as part of its cloud-based enterprise monitoring solution, FireScope Stratis. The IT service discovery and mapping capability is now available as a stand-alone solution. The new, SaaS-based offering includes agent-less application discovery and dependency mapping, additional discovery engines to identify asset attributes and configuration, as well as integration with Cherwell Service Management CMDB. The full FireScope Stratis Suite also includes monitoring functionality.
"One of the fastest growing areas in the industry -- at least in terms of need if not always in terms of answers -- is the intersection of IT service management and operations, especially when critical service interdependencies can be discovered effectively and dynamically," said Dennis Drogseth, vice president, Enterprise Management Associates. "FireScope's discovery has shown value in currency and time to value, and is an excellent fit for Cherwell's strengths in ITSM for managing and optimizing change, as well as enabling unified process and workflows across not just ITSM teams, but potentially all of IT."
The new offering will be sold exclusively by both FireScope and Cherwell. In addition, Cherwell will expand their joint go-to-market efforts alongside Cherwell Service Management, as an extension of the existing Strategic Partnership between the two organizations, previously announced.
"As our partnership with Cherwell matured, we recognized that discovery and dependency mapping offer significant value for IT teams that don't typically have responsibility for monitoring," said Michael Menegay, CEO of FireScope. "With this new product offering, combined with Cherwell's world-class products, organization and commitment to customer satisfaction, I look forward to great success in our shared mission.
"FireScope's Discovery and Dependency Mapping solution shares many of the hallmarks that Cherwell's solutions are known for: amazing value, rapid implementation, and ease of use. The combination of Cherwell and FireScope solutions offer a modern and affordable alternative to the legacy and mega-vendor solutions in the market," said Vance Brown, CEO and co-founder of Cherwell.
