SvSAN 6 is the most affordable way for companies to take advantage of the very latest hyper-converged infrastructure in a lean IT environment. Version 6 enables large organizations with remote or branch offices, or smaller businesses with more modest IT infrastructure and budget to take advantage of advanced storage caching features that enable the perfect balance of flexibility, efficiency and performance, while also future-proofing their IT infrastructure:
- Flexibility: Deploy any storage in any server on your choice of hypervisor
- Efficiency: Save time, money and reduce your carbon footprint
- Performance: Designed for the most demanding applications
Automatically leveraging the internal memory, SSD and SATA/SAS storage tiers of two industry standard servers, SvSAN 6 presents a virtual SAN to the hypervisor providing major gains in performance and a reduction in power consumption. This level of performance is critical for IT managers that deploy centralized IT strategies who, according to independent research commissioned by StorMagic and conducted by Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), are still hampered by slow file transfer speeds (36%) and poor application performance (25%) at remote locations.
As well as being available to purchase through StorMagic’s extensive Preferred Partner Network, SvSAN 6 will be available via the company’s recent OEM agreement with Cisco as a supported solution on all Cisco Unified Computing System™ (Cisco UCS®) server models and sold through the Cisco partner ecosystem.
“StorMagic SvSAN is an important part of Cisco’s UCS solutions portfolio that helps us address use cases for enterprise remote or branch offices for our customers,” said Siva Sivakumar, director UCS Solutions, Computing Systems Platform Group at Cisco. “The combination of SvSAN 6 and Cisco UCS is well suited for customers seeking enterprise-class resiliency, strong performance and cost requirements.”
SvSAN 6 also delivers synchronous mirroring to protect data in real time, high availability to guarantee service uptime and VSA restore, which ensures rapid data recovery in the event of a hardware failure. It includes stretched clusters to increase service resiliency within geographically distributed SvSAN VSA nodes, rapid recovery and target migration to ensure transparent movement of targets between available SvSAN resources. In addition, SvSAN 6 features storage pooling to improve storage utilization and categorization, and provides simplified storage administration capabilities with centralized monitoring and management software that allows admins to control multiple SvSAN remotely from a single location.
“This major new release of SvSAN represents a significant step forward and ensures that StorMagic leads the market by delivering a set of advanced storage features that have not previously been available with this level of simplicity and affordability,” said Hans O’Sullivan, CEO of StorMagic. “We are delighted to be working with Cisco in bringing to market Version 6 of SvSAN with Cisco UCS to deliver next generation software defined storage with unprecedented flexibility, efficiency, performance and simplicity.”
“Blackned has deployed StorMagic SvSAN with Cisco UCS C-Series Servers extensively, with our customers enjoying a robust and resilient solution in their remote sites whilst obtaining significant cost savings we could not deliver with traditional methods. We are delighted to see advanced features within SvSAN 6, which we plan to take advantage of in the coming months,” said Bernd Maier, Team Leader Military Systems, Blackned.
“StorMagic’s 2-server software-defined storage solution enables a form-factor well suited to the needs of branch offices and smaller environments. SvSAN 6 Advanced Edition, that comes with auto-tiering and the ability to pin data in memory, means that StorMagic can now address the needs of larger environments requiring a higher quantity of workloads and performance-sensitive applications," said Scott Sinclair, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “It's rare to find this level of sophisticated performance management in such a small, affordable package.”
