Quantum will highlight storage and data management solutions to power tomorrow’s enterprise applications at VMworld 2016 in Las Vegas, 28 August 2016-1 September 2016 (booth #2139). The highlighted Quantum offerings are designed to “Power What’s Next” by enabling the applications that will drive future innovation.

As technological change accelerates, IT organisations face challenges such as massive unstructured data growth, a movement to incorporate flash, cloud and hyper-converged architectures in infrastructure design, and the need to meet the expectations of the 24x7, worldwide enterprise. To help customers power what’s next for their organisations, Quantum will showcase solutions including:
  • QXS™ hybrid flash storage with real-time tiering to serve key applications such as VDI and virtual server hosting.
  • Xcellis™ workflow storage to enable customers to manage massive unstructured data growth and generate the insights and innovations to drive their businesses forward.
  • The new DXi6900-S deduplication appliance engineered to maximise the efficiency of enterprise operations while minimising data centre footprint.

Eric Bassier, senior director of data centre solutions, will also present a solutions exchange session on what companies are doing to cope with a tsunami of unstructured data caused by camera-, machine- and sensor-generated data sets that are too big to manage and protect using traditional storage.

Showcasing hybrid flash storage solutions for virtual environments
QXS hybrid flash storage is a family of primary storage systems designed to be highly customisable and scalable. Since introducing QXS last autumn, Quantum has seen enthusiastic adoption by customers. Unique to QXS is Q-Tier software — intelligent, automated, real-time storage tiering which moves data between the highest performing flash storage or disk tiers to optimise performance as needed. The addition of QXS storage arrays to Quantum’s scale-out storage and data protection portfolio has further expanded the company’s range of solutions designed for managing data across the entire lifecycle in demanding environments. Recent customers to implement QXS hybrid storage include:
  • HEXPOL, a leading polymer group
  • The Moret Group lifestyle brands
  • New York Historical Society, one of America’s preeminent cultural institutions
  • Sage Hospitality, a national hotel developer and operator
  • University of Pittsburgh, a leading state research and education institution

“We built our DRaaS cloud solution on a QXS hybrid storage foundation so that our customers can enjoy real-time intelligent tiering to address unpredictable data access patterns,” said John Borhek, chief solutions architect, VMsources, a consulting firm focused on optimising virtualised environments. “Quantum QXS delivers the benefits of flash performance without the cost of an all-flash array.”

“In the aerospace industry, computing power and speed are essential for meeting aggressive product launch schedules,” noted Djassem Hamrat, director, technology and engineering division, CIARA Technologies, a provider of high-performance and cost-effective solutions designed for aerospace. “Quantum’s QXS hybrid storage offers a tiered solution which optimises both capacity and performance, enabling us to meet the dynamic needs of our customers.”

Managing unstructured data growth and maximising production system availability
In addition to showcasing how QXS hybrid storage powers demanding virtualisation environments, Quantum will also be highlighting its Xcellis storage platform, which enables IT organisations to address the unprecedented growth of unstructured data. The company will also show the new DXi6900-S deduplication appliance, which provides the highest density backup available today and delivers a 400 per cent increase in performance to minimise the impact of backup and maximise availability of production systems to power the enterprise of tomorrow.
