Huawei and Alluxio release Big Data storage acceleration solution

At HUAWEI CONNECT 2016, Huawei joined together with Alluxio to announce the release of their Big Data storage acceleration solution, integrating Huawei’s FusionStorage with Alluxio’s memory-speed virtual distributed storage system. This solution realizes unified data management, improves data analytics performance and popularizes the adoption of Big Data applications in the enterprise.

Jointly released by Huawei and Alluxio, this Big Data storage acceleration solution uses an EB-level data storage pool provided by FusionStorage to centrally manage data and provide on-demand data services for production and Big Data systems, avoiding the need of data migration. With Alluxio’s memory speed virtual distributed storage system, the solution can seamless interwork with various Big Data computing engines and greatly accelerate data reads and writes.

FusionStorage-enabled dynamic data tiering and distributed erasure code technology ensure that hot data is on the fastest drives while cold data is sent to ‘cheap and deep’ drives, delivering improvements of over 200% to storage utilization and significantly lowering total cost of ownership (TCO). This solution is expected to improve data analysis efficiency by 50% and TCO by 46%.

Haoyuan Li, Founder and CEO of Alluxio, remarked at the launch event, “As the first worldwide memory-centric virtual distributed storage system, Alluxio has already been widely deployed in Big Data processing across multiple industries. Huawei FusionStorage features prominent performance, unparalleled scalability, and excellent Big Data ecological compatibility, simplifying the design and delivery of joint solutions. We are look forward to our cooperation accelerating our applications and popularizing Big Data.
