Emerson Network Power has announced the availability of the Liebert® DCL in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The Liebert DCL brings a new thermal management solution integrating rack and cooling technologies into one single unit, offering energy efficient water-based cooling that’s intended for small data centre rooms or applications with higher heat densities.
Designed with two different architectures – closed loop and hybrid loop – the Liebert DCL puts chilled water cooling capabilities very close to the heat source. This optimises the amount of air needed for cooling which increases energy efficiency and cost savings. The modular design of the Liebert DCL allows multiple combinations of up to four racks per cooling unit, thus minimizing floor space. Suitable for medium to high heat-load density, the Liebert DCL also reduces power consumption through EC fans and dynamic fan control.

Availability and efficiency are managed through the integrated iCOM™ Control, which constantly monitors the unit’s supply and return air and adjusts the fan speed to provide the right amount of cold air to the servers. In case of a failure in the control, the unique fail-safe function guarantees continuous operation and maximised cooling by switching the fans to full speed and completely opening the chilled water valve. An additional feature automatically opens the doors of the unit to utilise room cooling as back up. This can be essential in the unlikely event of a system failure or if unacceptable temperatures are reached.
