The Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), the industry body whose aim is to raise standards and improve transparency in the cloud sector, has announced Robert May, Managing Director at ramsac, and Mitchell Feldman, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) at RedPixie, as the first recipients of its Honorary Membership. CIF has established its Honorary Membership scheme to honour individuals in the UK channel who have made important contributions to the cloud industry.

CIF is awarding a limited number of Honorary Memberships and is inviting further nominations from the IT business community across end users, academics and the UK channel. To be considered, individuals must be leading cloud advocates, thought leaders and recognisable business ambassadors who support the need for digital skills development. The first two Honorary Members tick all these boxes.

Having founded ramsac in 1991, after identifying an opportunity to provide an impartial, business focussed IT consultancy service, Robert May is a recognised expert in cloud computing and cyber security. He currently serves as the Managing Director of ramsac, where he specialises in providing business with strategy and technology design. Additionally, Robert works as an outsourced IT director for many businesses and he is an experienced industry writer and spokesperson.

Mitchell Feldman is an entrepreneur and business leader with a proven track record and solid reputation across the IT industry and Microsoft. Mitchell is currently the CDO at RedPixie, where he is responsible for the digital marketing, alliances and sales functions of the business. He is regarded as one of the most disruptive and forward thinking marketers in the IT sector and a finalist for the Microsoft World Wide marketing partner of the year.

As Honorary Members, both Robert and Mitchell will support CIF in the continued development of its Professional Membership and e-learning initiatives and will act as advocates for CIF at industry events.

Robert May, Managing Director of ramsac, commented: “I am delighted to accept this Honorary Membership from CIF. Cloud adoption is rapidly progressing and organisations of all sizes and sectors have warmed to the delivery model. But lots of questions remain about how to use cloud technologies safely and to the best effect, which is why the services and support offered by CIF are as important and relevant as ever. It’s therefore a true privilege to be named as one of the first recipients of CIF’s Honorary Membership. I look forward to working with CIF and its other members to further develop CIF’s Professional Membership scheme and provide organisations with the tools and resources they need to ensure that their cloud projects are successful.”

Mitchell Feldman, CDO at RedPixie, said: “In today’s rapidly changing business environment, companies are looking for ways to accelerate their rate of business and respond swiftly to shifting market demands. Cloud computing is fundamental to this, but the transformation of architecture and processes must be done with diligence. CIF plays an important role in ensuring companies are cloud ready and can adopt this technology in the best possible way. Therefore, it comes as a real honour to be recognised by the Cloud Industry Forum and I look forward to flying the CIF flag.”

Alex Hilton, CEO of CIF, added: “Both Robert and Mitchell have made significant contributions to the cloud industry. Robert, through the provision of strategic IT planning and advice that’s vital when it comes to addressing real business needs. And Mitchell, due to his extensive IT experience and entrepreneurial spirit. Both bring a wealth of knowledge that will help us to bolster our credentials even further and they come as worthy recipients of CIF Honorary Membership. We look forwarded to drawing on their insights to help steer the direction we take as an industry body and we look forward to collaborating to raise awareness of cloud issues even further.

“We intend to grow our roster of Honorary Members with other notable individuals from within the UK channel and would like to invite the community to get their nominations in to us,” Alex concludes.
