The Zstor AJ496 JBOD system is designed completely in a 12 GB/s system architecture and equipped with two dual, redundant I/O modules (SAS-Expander modules), each with eight miniSAS HD interfaces. In the top loader 96 3.5” or 2.5" SAS hard drives can be easily installed. The system is designed for high reliability and not only equipped with redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and fans, but also uses specially developed hot swap drive carrier, that reduce rotational energies produced by hard disk drives under operations. This contributes to an significant increase of reliability for the overall system.
"Cost effective storage uses minimized space is one of the top requirements within datacenter operations. With the Zstor AJ496 a system will be introduced, that meet this requirements in its best manner, " says Helmut Kopel, Managing Director of Zstor GmbH. „With the Zstor AJ496 we present a system for 96 hard drives, that also in terms of performance and reliability provides the necessary performance values."
With a data transfer rate over 20 GB/s and a capacity of up to 1.152 PB in one 4U rackmount chassis the Zstor AJ496 is recommended for use in software defined storage environments. With installation of ten Zstor AJ496, even up to 11.5 PB in one 42U rack will be realized. The management is the system will be done via dual, redundant BMC (Board management controller) offering an easy remote management. For installation the needed rails necessary as well as a cable arm management are included in the package.
The Zstor AJ496 JBOD system supports all major operating systems for software defined storage applications. So it is certified, qualified or tested for Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2, 2016, NexentaStor, Suse Linux, RedHat Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu and OmniOS, as well as for virtualization environments, such as Microsoft HyperV, VMware and Proxmox.
Equipped with a three year system warranty and depending on capacity requirements Zstor’s sales team is ready to prepare project-oriented offerings. In the system Zstor relies on the new helium-filled 12 GB SAS-3 hard disk drives and the optimized server product line Zstor Gridserver, which are developed as building blocks for use in software defined storage environments.
