Rackspace strengthens UK leadership team

New role designed to drive business growth and strengthen relationships with customers and partners across EMEA.

Lee James has been appointed as new Chief Technology Officer for Rackspace in EMEA. In a newly created role within Rackspace’s UK Leadership Team, James will be responsible for the company’s business growth in the EMEA region. Reporting directly to Managing Director, Darren Norfolk, James is tasked with initiating and driving relationships with senior business customers and partners to move the Rackspace proposition forward.

“We’re delighted to have Lee on board,” said Norfolk. “He has a valuable and rare blend of business and technology experience. He will help shape our business proposition in a way which speaks to companies in a wide range of industries. We’re the only provider with a top-class team of experts, offering managed services and Fanatical Support? across AWS™, Microsoft® and Google Cloud®. Our acquisition of TriCore Solutions allows us to manage applications for SAP or Oracle workloads, and will improve the way we deliver services that can scale up in line with company growth.”

James will work closely with internal teams to influence the product roadmap and services in line with future market and customer trends. He will have authority over the planning, launching and refining of products and services, ensuring that Rackspace has a customer-aligned strategy in the EMEA region. In addition, James will coach and mentor emerging leadership and technical talent across the business.

“Rackspace has an extremely convincing business proposition, which is widely acclaimed in the IT industry,” said James. “I’m coming on-board at an important time – just as Rackspace is expanding its capabilities, providing the expertise and support which brings us our many great customers and industry-wide recognition. I expect the company to build on this and continue its growth through 2017 and beyond.”

With 20 years of experience working with organisations of all sizes, James has helped numerous FTSE 100 and 250 organisations through cloud, data and digital transformation programmes, as well as delivered platforms and strategies to drive new business. His extensive experience includes senior technology positions within Computacenter, BP and BetFair.
