With more than 2,500 museums in Britain, Cisco has partnered with cultural institutions across the UK to enhance connectivity, create new opportunities, develop unique experiences and protect our cultural heritage. As part of the company’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) programme and in support of the UK Government’s #CultureIsDigital initiative, Cisco is also launching the Embracing Digitisation: Digital Museums whitepaper, which will champion collaboration between business and technology.

Enhancing the museum experience with digital, Cisco is creating new and engaging ways for people to learn about their history, connect with their past and inspire the next generation.

“Museums preserve our society’s legacy. However, they are at risk from changing cultural dynamics.” stated Scot Gardner, Chief Executive, Cisco UK & Ireland.

“Our engagement with museums, libraries and cultural hubs across the UK reflects our belief in the power of digital and its ability to improve public services, engage new audiences and in the most unlikely way, protect our legacy. There are many ways that digital can positively impact society, but where better to start than with our heritage.”

Michael Ellis, Minister for Arts, Heritage and Tourism, in the UK said: “We want to unleash the creative power of technology to reach new audiences and ensure our cultural sector can thrive in the digital age.

“The UK’s future will be built around our twin expertise in culture and technology. I am delighted that leaders such as Cisco and the Natural History Museum are coming together to help museums capitalise on exciting digital opportunities.”
