London South Bank University to push forward on digital strategy following ANS cloud readiness assessment

London South Bank University has partnered with cloud and managed service provider, ANS Group, as it drives forward on its mission to become the most modern university in London by 2020.

The university, which set out its strategy to modernise its IT infrastructure in 2017, has made its next move to cement its plans to become a more digital, innovative and agile university with ANS’s cloud readiness assessment.

As part of this readiness assessment, ANS worked closely with key stakeholders at the university to assess its critical infrastructure, applications and architecture of the application estate.

This enabled ANS to identify the areas of the estate that needed to be consolidated, shifted and retired. It also highlighted which internal processes could be optimised and where cost-savings could be made, which was presented back in a fully-comprehensive business case for the university.

Following this assessment, it is hoped that the university’s IT teams will be able rapidly modernise its entire IT infrastructure by moving to the public cloud. This will enable the university to transform its staff and student-facing systems, as well as make use of business intelligence tools in order to constantly boost both user experience and the growth of the university as a whole.

Alex Denley, deputy director of innovation and transformation at London South Bank University, said: “We chose ANS to carry out this readiness assessment because it has a proven track record of advising companies and organisations on which solution is best for them.

“The support and expertise delivered by the company was second-to-none. The team at ANS really understood our strategy and worked from the bottom up to carry out a thorough assessment and present a business case which reflects the visions set out in our corporate strategy. We’re excited to see the results of this assessment come to fruition over the coming months and years.”

Andy Barrow, CTO at ANS: “We work with organisations like London South Bank University to show how they can really maximise IT and cloud solutions for their benefit.

“London South Bank has a really clear vision of where it wants to be in the next two years. This drive to become London’s most modern university is ambitious and we admire its enthusiasm for embracing technology as a means to achieving this status.”
