Tieto enters into strategic partnership with Citrix for providing new generation hybrid cloud services

The Nordic IT services and software company Tieto has entered into a strategic partnership with unified workspace, networking, and analytics provider Citrix to provide new generation hybrid cloud services. With Citrix, Tieto meets current and future digitalization requirements of public and private sector organizations by responding to market demand for simpler and more flexible ICT environments. In the first stage, covering the Tieto Energized Workspace service, over 200 Nordic customers and 250,000 end users will benefit from the new services.

Digitalization of businesses and citizen services require increasingly flexible, but at the same time more cost efficient, ICT infrastructures. While cloud technologies offer opportunities for this and their market continues to grow, it is the combination of different types of clouds and on premises environments - hybrid environments - that currently enjoy rising popularity among Nordic organizations. As noted by IDC, cloud usage is evolving and preferences and purchasing processes are changing.

Tieto, partnering with Citrix, will utilize the Citrix Cloud services on Microsoft Azure as the foundation of its Energized Workspace service. This will provide individual users of Tieto's Energized Workspace secure access to data and applications, on any device (such as a tablet or phone) via a hybrid cloud environment. The new service will in the first phase cover over 200 customers across Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, benefiting over 250,000 users.

"Reaping the rewards of digitalization takes place one application at a time. Together with Citrix, we want to be a global first to offer our customers the power of the hybrid cloud in a completely new way," says Mathias à…berg, Head of Workspace Business, Tieto. "Combining different types of clouds, possibly with an on premises data center, is something we see as a trend in the industry bringing companies agility and efficiency. We are excited to collaborate with Citrix on this as they are one of the key players in the hybrid cloud space ecosystem."

For the end user, this will ultimately encourage a more flexible, productive way of working. From a business point of view, this hybrid cloud environment simplifies the ICT environment and makes it more scalable and faster to build. Unifying management across the entire hybrid cloud environment, it also enables eg. faster application deployment.

"We are extremely happy to begin working with Tieto. Their partnering with us is an endorsement of the Citrix Cloud technology by a major Nordic player. We see a marked increase in the demand for more flexible ways of buying into Citrix technology. I am confident our partnership with Tieto will provide customers in the Nordics something truly value creating," says Mats Ericson, Country Manager at Citrix Sweden.
