Leaseweb Global opens Leaseweb Japan

Leaseweb Global, a leading hosting and cloud services company, has announced the opening of Leaseweb Japan. The new location adds significant scale to Leaseweb Global’s presence in the APAC region, which already includes Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. Pieter Kraan has been appointed as the Managing Director of both Leaseweb Hong Kong and Japan, where he will lead the charge to provide market-leading cloud and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) capabilities for organisations locally and globally.

The APAC region is one of the fastest growing for Leaseweb globally. The new Tokyo-based subsidiary will support the strategic needs of customers who are expanding to Japan and will enable the growth of Leaseweb’s business locally. With two tier-3 data centres in Singapore, a recently opened data centre in Tokyo, and others in Hong Kong and Australia, partnering with Leaseweb APAC provides customers with a local and personal connection in the heart of the ‘next Silicon Valley’.

With a local APAC presence since 2013, Leaseweb APAC caters to the needs of organisations across a wide range of major industries including Martech, Adtech, Fintech, iGaming, Big Tech, Cyber Security and SaaS. With a track record of international expansion and partnerships with industry-leading technology vendors, such as Microsoft, Dell, VMware and Veeam, Leaseweb is ideally positioned to work with customers on a regional or global scale to deliver high performance, secure and agile cloud and managed service infrastructure.

Pieter Kraan will be leading the expansion efforts in Japan. Kraan is a globally experienced director and general manager with a demonstrated history of growing businesses in the IT and services industries and has worked at companies such as Canon and Runway86.

While the cloud hosting and infrastructure markets in Japan are serviced by a variety of domestic businesses, comparatively few international providers have expanded there to date. By investing in a local data centre, Leaseweb is now ideally positioned to offer customers full compliance capabilities, high performance services and minimal latency.

“We see the market in Japan as a major opportunity to support the growth and success of our customers across the region,” said Arno Witvliet, Chief Sales Officer at Leaseweb Global. “The launch of our data centre in Japan earlier this year was a very important step in the strategic development of Leaseweb in APAC and also on the world stage.”

“I am delighted to be leading the business in such an important market, and the launch of our subsidiary in Japan is another important milestone for the team as we continue to scale to meet client needs,” Pieter Kraan, Managing Director of Leaseweb Hong Kong and Japan said, “I’m looking forward to building on our success across APAC and partnering with ambitious businesses to help them reach their potential.”
