Ealing Hospital appoints Keysource

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) has appointed Keysource, the leading datacentre and critical environment specialist, to undertake a live upgrade of the datacentre at Ealing Hospital. It follows an extensive review of the mechanical and electrical infrastructure during which Keysource determined how best to solve the complex challenge of lifecycle replacement within a live environment, that needed to be more efficient and support the need for increased capacity.

Keysource will redesign the existing space and create a modular solution to provide flexibility for LNWH that can expand with their future requirements in increments in clear capacity steps across both the mechanical and electrical equipment. Another key benefit is that this will result in the freeing up of plant rooms, through the relocation of all critical infrastructure within the datacentre, creating valuable space within the hospital, whilst improving the resilience.

The works will include the deployment of a new Modular UPS System N+1 with 10 Minutes autonomy with External Maintenance Bypass and a Close Coupled cooling system N+1. This will be undertaken in a live environment with no downtime expected to existing services.

Commenting on the award of the project, Martin Kavanagh at LNWH Trust, said: “Keysource has been able to provide us with a cost effective and flexible solution that will enable us to increase our capacity as and when new IT load is introduced, whilst improving energy efficiency and reducing ongoing maintenance costs. The extra space the solution has created is a much-valued bonus and further reflects Keysource’s understanding of the needs of our organisation.”

Richard Clifford, Head of Solutions at Keysource, said: “This demonstrates the importance of pre-construction engagements in the success of critical infrastructure projects. It highlights our ability to design and implement bespoke solutions to complex live upgrades that exceed client expectations.”
