Global Cloud Xchange launches Cyber Division

The leading network service provider expands its offerings to meet growing network security concerns.

Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) has launched a new Cyber Division in response to growing concerns among its customers and the wider enterprise market around network security. The product-agnostic services will centre on security optimisation, closing any potential gaps in organisations’ security posture while supporting better resource and cost management.

Network security risks have increased in recent years reflecting a growing ferocity in the cybercrime landscape. The 2022 Cyber Security Breaches Survey reported that 39% of UK businesses identified a cyberattack over the preceding 12 months, of which 21% identified a more sophisticated type of attack, such as a denial of service (DoS), malware, or ransomware attack. Changing digital trends, such as the growth in a globally distributed and hybrid workforce have also added to the complexity of managing network security due to the increased attack surface and a growing number of connections to insecure connectivity sources.

The launch of the GCX Cyber Division is designed to help customers manage the diverse and expansive network security threats landscape. Its new services include Cybersecurity Consulting, Attack Surface Management, Managed Detection and Response (MDR), and Incident Response.

The end-to-end offering will enable customers to better optimise their cybersecurity estate. With many enterprises having already made significant, reactive investments in cybersecurity solutions that touch every part of the stack in recent years, GCX will work with its customers to take a holistic view of their available tools. This will not only reveal where potential gaps are introducing risk, but will identify where duplicate services could be optimised for better resource and cost management.

Jonathan Wright, Director of Products and Operations at GCX comments: “The network security threat is increasing in organisations of all sizes, but the resources that CISOs and IT security leaders have in combatting it cannot increase at the same rate – particularly in the current environment. Continuing the trend of reactively adding on new solutions to respond to new and evolving threats is adding not only to the cost, but also to the complexity of managing organisations’ security posture. We want Data Made Resilient and Secure, and to help companies get a holistic view of and a real handle on their network security, while offering them technical guidance and support to ensure they can be confident they have the right defences to match the cyber threat landscape.”

GCX launches the new Cyber Division with specialist cybersecurity partners Cambridge Cyber Advisors, Performanta, and S-RM. The extensive experience and agility of these teams will build on the deep network knowledge and technical capabilities of the GCX team. This will allow the new Cyber Division to quickly scale to the demand for network security support among its existing customer base, enterprises, media providers, and telecoms carriers.

The new services launched by the GCX Cyber Division include:

Cybersecurity Consulting Services – Complete assessments of an organisation’s security posture to understand the environment - including pen testing, vulnerability assessments, compliance and auditing – with recommendations on new tooling requirements and opportunities to improve the use of existing tools to optimise usage and costs. Where necessary, the GCX Cyber Division will also act as an interim CISO to meet a particular requirement within the business.

Attack Surface Management – Internal and external attack surface management to highlight the risks and vulnerabilities across all hardware, software, and web applications. The all-in-one platform will support IT teams in dynamically managing this environment and improve compliance with security policies.

Managed Detection and Response (MDR) – End-to-end management across Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), Security Orchestration and Automation Response (SOAR), and Security Operation Centre (SOC). One solution to prevent security incidents from falling through the cracks.

Incident Response – A market-leading incident response solution offering 24/7 support, forensic investigation, detection and containment, restoration and mediation, threat actor engagement, and crisis management support.
