Together, AtlasEdge and Colt’s combined expertise directly addresses the demand for robust and reliable connectivity in Portugal. By combining Colt’s cutting-edge solutions with AtlasEdge’s agile infrastructure, businesses gain the agility and flexibility to scale on demand, boost efficiency, and drive growth in today’s dynamic digital landscape.

In 2025, Portugal's strategic focus is to rapidly deploy critical digital infrastructure, prioritising green and emerging technologies. This includes hybrid networks, AI, IoT, and 5G, designed to unlock real-time connectivity and automation. This acceleration will drive significant economic growth, particularly in core sectors like banking, energy, healthcare, insurance, telecommunications, and manufacturing, through transformative digital capabilities. This will directly empower thousands of businesses with significantly faster and more dependable connectivity.

This partnership represents the latest stage of an ambitious growth strategy which will see AtlasEdge invest more than €500 million in Portugal, a strategic market which is a major hub for subsea cables and is the world’s fourth-largest producer of solar and wind power. AtlasEdge selected Colt as a partner due to its robust fibre network, industry-leading connectivity and its commitment to putting customers first, offering agile, high-bandwidth solutions across global business hubs.

Colt boasts extensive network infrastructure in Portugal, including 2 Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) in Lisbon and Porto. Through its networks, Colt connects more than 780 buildings and 12 data centres. Its digital footprint in the country stretches over 830 km of fibre optic network and 1,700 km additional long-distance network connections, extending to Germany, France, UK and Spain.

The partnership follows-on from AtlasEdge’s acquisition of two adjacent sites in Carnaxide, Lisbon in April 2024. Once developed, these will form a state-of-the-art campus that will deliver over 20MW of IT load and be 100% powered by renewables.

"A greener future isn't just a goal, it's a necessity. AtlasEdge and Colt are partnering to put sustainability at the heart of enterprise strategy," said Paul Wiltshire, Interim Senior Vice President of Sales at AtlasEdge. “By leveraging energy-efficient networking solutions and sustainable data center operations, businesses in Portugal can achieve their environmental goals while maintaining top-tier performance. This commitment ensures that enterprises not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to broader sustainability objectives.”

“Portugal’s dynamic tech sector relies on continued investment in connectivity to attract global players and drive growth. Our partnership with AtlasEdge strengthens Colt’s commitment to enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure and reinforces Portugal’s role in global connectivity. By combining our expertise, we can deliver outstanding network services that drive the best outcomes for enterprises. Sustainability is a key part of this partnership, and we’re excited to work with AtlasEdge to provide seamless connectivity alongside eco-friendly colocation solutions, supporting a more sustainable digital future,” said Carlos Jesus, VP Global Service Delivery and Portugal Country Manager of Colt Technology Services.
