Digital Realty expands in Nigeria with new Lagos facility

Digital Realty enhances connectivity in West Africa with a third Lagos data centre, boosting the region's digital transformation.

Digital Realty, recognised as a premier global provider of neutral data facilities, has inaugurated its third data centre in Lagos. This move fortifies its presence in West Africa, promoting digital transformation and granting expansive access to its renowned global platform, PlatformDIGITAL®.

Strategically situated in Lekki, LKK2 introduces 2MW of IT capacity over nearly 13,000 square feet. This development addresses the surging demand in Nigeria for scalable, high-performance infrastructures. Noteworthy is the planned interconnection with Digital Realty’s LKK1 site, which functions as the landing point for the influential 2Africa subsea cable, facilitating remarkable connectivity across 33 key countries.

The integration promises businesses in West Africa enhanced application performance through low-latency connectivity and seamless access to significant digital ecosystems globally. This carrier-neutral approach is designed to optimise connectivity efficiencies, providing reliable access to international digital resources.

LKK2 integrates with ServiceFabric®, Digital Realty’s sophisticated global interconnection platform. It ensures efficient, high-throughput connectivity, linking hubs like LOS1, a major internet peering point, and LOS2 on Victoria Island. This synergistic ecosystem guarantees resilience, speed, and operational continuity for enterprises keen on penetrating evolving digital landscapes.

This facility heralds a new era in West African digital transformation, underpinning ambitions for both local and multinational entities with robust, interconnected infrastructure. "LKK2 is a significant milestone in our journey to support digital transformation in Africa," expressed Ike Nnamani at Digital Realty.

Indeed, this venture is a dynamic step in boosting innovation, reinforcing Digital Realty’s position as a lynchpin in Africa’s burgeoning digital frontier. It aligns with the exponential data growth seen continent-wide, offering capacitated infrastructures essential for current and future scalability and connectivity needs.

Slated for operational commencement shortly, LKK2 aims to cater for the diverse needs of local businesses and international bodies eager for secure and resilient digital partnerships in Africa.
