Modine has announced the official opening of its new 100,000 ft2 facility in Chennai, India. The inauguration of this plant marks a significant step in providing in-region production of Airedale by Modine data centre cooling equipment, catering to the growing demands of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market.

Eric McGinnis, President of Climate Solutions at Modine, emphasised the importance of this development for the company’s global growth strategy. According to McGinnis, "The data centre market in India and across the region is growing rapidly. Establishing in-region manufacturing strengthens our ability to serve APAC data centre customers with speed, precision, and locally tailored solutions."

The launch event showcased remarks from senior leadership, a memorable tree-planting ceremony, and the unveiling of the first locally manufactured product—the AireWall ONE fan wall. Impressively, this unit consists of 70% locally sourced components, and efforts are underway to boost local sourcing further. The company is gearing up to include more product ranges to align with the burgeoning data centre demand across the Asia Pacific, which analysts predict will grow at a 13% CAGR.

R Sathish, Managing Director of Modine India, praised the achievement, stating, "This milestone reflects the dedication of our team and the strength of our local partnerships; achieving 70% local sourcing is a testament to our commitment to regional growth. This plant not only enhances our manufacturing capabilities but also creates new opportunities for local employment and collaboration."

Besides serving as a strategic location for production within the APAC region, the modern facility in Chennai supports Modine’s broader investment mission. This includes expanding U.S. production to serve booming markets more effectively.

The rising application of AI technologies has spurred demand for Airedale by Modine cooling solutions. These encompass high-efficiency chillers, indoor air systems, cutting-edge liquid cooling technologies, intelligent controls, and building management systems. Backed by a global service network, Modine remains firmly committed to driving innovation in data centre cooling.
