NorthC, a prominent regional data centre provider, has unveiled plans for a new data facility at the Innovation Campus uptownBasel in Arlesheim. This strategic move amplifies NorthC's collaboration with uptownBasel, offering infrastructure catered to pioneering technologies like AI and quantum computing.

Set to commence operations by mid-2027, the construction project is slated to begin 18 months post-permit approval. The uptownBasel hub serves as a significant innovation ecosystem, integrating tech enterprises, startups, and academic institutions to drive digital advancement.

The new data centre will occupy a 2,500 m² area in the initial development stage, providing 6 MVA of power. Committed to sustainability, the facility will utilise 100% renewable energy, with green diesel powering backup systems, aligning with NorthC's goal of climate neutrality by 2030. Additionally, the design will incorporate waste heat recovery for residential heating.

The inception of this facility fortifies NorthC’s enduring alliance with uptownBasel. It enhances NorthC's standing as a pivotal infrastructure provider for MedTech, Industry 4.0, and AI in the Basel area, complementing current sites in Münchenstein.

With this expansion, NorthC will manage five data centres nationwide, cementing its reputation for reliable and sustainable services within Switzerland. The new centre will act as a cornerstone for technological innovation, offering a nurturing environment for startups and attracting talent to Arlesheim.

This latest facility underscores NorthC's dedication to establishing Switzerland as a vital innovation hub, rooted in a commitment to innovative and futuristic endeavours.
