Business process outsourcer Capita is expanding its collaboration with Multiverse, a platform focused on upskilling in AI and technology. Building on the initial programme that trained over 500 employees in advanced AI skills, Capita plans to enrol an additional 250 staff into Multiverse programmes.
The first cohort reported an average time saving of 10 hours per week per person. Participants delivered over 400 AI-related projects and identified 40 AI use cases, reflecting a shift toward a data-informed workforce. These skills helped reduce manual administrative tasks and support decision-making processes.
Capita’s approach focuses on developing practical AI skills that improve service delivery and reduce operational costs. By extending AI capabilities across its departments, the organisation seeks to enable employees to focus on higher-value, strategic work.
One example is Dave Collingwood, who addressed inefficiencies in his department’s booking process. His solution cut the time required for a single booking from eight minutes to 30 seconds, saving approximately 30 business days per year. He is now applying these skills at Capita Fire and Rescue, developing an AI solution aimed at ensuring consistent fire risk assessments.
Participants in the AI for Business Value programme learned to identify and implement AI solutions for business problems. The next cohort will join the AI-Powered Productivity programme, which focuses on applying Generative AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to everyday workflows.
Through this expanded partnership, Capita aims to strengthen operational efficiency and translate employee skills into measurable business outcomes, supporting ongoing development and innovation across the organisation.
