Skillsoft reports surge in AI learning and skills validation

Skillsoft has observed a rise in AI skill validation and learning on its platform, with year-on-year growth in AI-related achievements.

Skillsoft, an AI-native skills management platform, has published data showing a shift in learner focus towards acquiring and demonstrating AI-related skills. This trend aligns with organisations’ efforts to translate AI investments into productivity improvements.

Over the past year, Skillsoft recorded a 994% increase in completions of AI-related Skill Benchmark assessments. These benchmarks measure learners’ ability to apply AI knowledge and provide organisations with insights into workforce capability. The platform also reported a 261% increase in AI content completions, a 222% rise in AI learning journeys, and a 241% increase in AI achievement badges issued.

The data indicates increased engagement from both employees and organisations in developing AI skills and assessing their application in workplace contexts. The move towards practice-based learning is providing organisations with greater visibility of workforce skills and their application.

As AI adoption increases, organisations are considering how different competencies are applied between human roles and AI systems. There is also a growing focus on identifying individuals who can apply AI in business contexts, supporting workforce readiness and execution.

AI is increasingly being used in day-to-day organisational processes. The focus has shifted from whether employees are learning AI skills to how consistently those skills are applied in practice. Skills validation, based on demonstrated proficiency, is becoming a factor in assessing workforce readiness.

As AI becomes more embedded in workflows, organisations are placing greater emphasis on aligning learning with application. Skills validation is being used to link training with practical use, with the aim of improving visibility of capability and supporting performance outcomes.

The data is based on aggregated activity from Skillsoft Percipio between December 2024 and December 2025 and reflects internal platform usage metrics.
