Rapid edge expansion puts pressure on power infrastructure

Daniel Thorpe, Associate Director of Data Centre Research at JLL, explains the reasons behind the edge data centre market’s predicted doubling by 2026 – with data regulation, low latency demand and IoT growth the main drivers. Daniel also discusses the urgent need for the renewal of aging power infrastructure across Europe, and elsewhere, currently ill-equipped to handle the increased demand for both electrification and the digital infrastructure boom of which edge applications (many driven by AI) are a significant part.
