The Digital Catapult today announced the appointment of Caroline Gorski as the Head of Internet of Things (IoT). The role will see Gorski develop and drive innovation in the IoT, which is critical to the Digital Catapult’s overall mission to develop breakthroughs for the UK’s data sharing movement.

Caroline’s appointment is fundamental to the Digital Catapult’s mission to advance IoT development and adoption throughout the UK’s public and private sector. She will lead on increasing industry awareness of the impact of IoT while coordinating and amplifying the impact of existing and new IoT activities designed to help turn concepts into creation. In leading the IoTUK programme, which is powered by Digital Catapult and Future Cities Catapult, Gorski will also oversee the ongoing IoT projects taking place in the development of a city demonstrator, a research hub focussed on security and trust, as well as a healthcare test bed.

Caroline has more than 20 years of experience as a strategy consultant, specialising in helping organisations to transform their businesses using internet-based technologies, and has worked with names including Telefonica, Sodexo, Pearson, TATA Group and Forrester Research. Most recently, Gorski established Telefonica UK's Internet of Things business unit, and was involved in developing products in the Connected Car and Connected Home sectors.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Digital Catapult, which is committed to making an impact in driving the UK’s digital economy, and more specifically its adoption of and leadership in the Internet of Things technologies,” said Caroline Gorski. “By working with the incredible talent that already exists across the country, the role provides a unique and exciting opportunity to maximise, support and amplify the nation’s capability to deliver tangible Internet of Things solutions that solve real challenges and deliver lasting  impact for business, public sector and society at large.”

Andrew Carr, Chief Operating Officer at the Digital Catapult, added: “The UK has reached a critical juncture in the deployment of the Internet of Things technologies and we must be ready to maximise the incredible potential of interconnected technology. Caroline’s appointment will ensure the Digital Catapult and IoTUK programmes help support and work with the UK’s growing IoT sector to drive further innovation and collaboration.”
